Police Department Full-Time Officer


The law enforcement agencies of Iowa County will conduct testing to produce a list of eligible candidates for full and part-time positions. The Iowa POST test and physical agility tests will be given April 30th, 2021 beginning promptly at 9:00 am. Testing will be conducted at the Marengo Public Library locate at 235 E. Hilton Street, Marengo, IA 52301. Please arrive no less than 15 minutes prior to testing to ensure you are signed in. Only applicants who have submitted an application to the sheriff’s office no later than April 20th at 4pm will be eligible to test.


Physical testing will take place immediately following the written exam at the Iowa Valley High School track located near the intersection of Eastern Ave and North Street in Marengo, Iowa. Your Iowa County Sheriff’s Deputy Application will be shared with the Marengo and Williamsburg Police Departments. Application can be picked up at the Iowa County Sheriffs Office or printed from the following website:


The cost of the POST test is $15. Make checks payable to the Iowa County Sheriff. If you have a qualifying POST test from another agency, ask the agency to provide the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office with a copy.



Police Department Part-Time Officer

The City of Marengo is seeking ILEA certified officers to serve on an as needed basis. This position is an IPERS (Iowa Public Employee Retirement System) position and has an established wage of $18.00 an hour.
