Police Department Full- Time Officer

THE MARENGO POLICE DEPARTMENT IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS TO FILL A POSITION FOR A FULL TIME POLICE OFFICER.

 
OFFICERS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 18 YEARS OF AGE. HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT. COLOR VISION WITH NO LESS THAN 20/100 IN EACH EYE CORRECTABLE TO 20/20. CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES. MUST POSSESS A VALID IOWA DRIVER'S LICENSE. BE OF GOOD MORAL CHARACTER AND HAVE NOT BEEN CONVICTED OF A FELONY OR CRIME INVOLVING MORAL TURPITUDE, OR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. THE APPLICANT MUST SUCCESSFULLY ALL REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH BY ILEA.
 
ILEA CERTIFIED OFFICERS ARE PREFERRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED.  CANDIDATES WHO ARE CURRENT ILEA CERTIFIED PEACE OFFICERS DO NOT NEED TO TAKE THE POST OR PHYSICAL FITNESS TESTING. TESTING DATES WILL BE SENT TO THOSE WHO APPLY AT A LATER DATE.  COMPENSATION: BASED ON EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION, AND UNION CONTRACT. PAY RANGE EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2025 IS $26.41- $33.02 PER HOUR DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION.
 
FULL TIME OFFICERS ALSO PARTICIPATE IN THE IOWA PUBLIC EMPLOYEE RETIREMENT SYSTEM (IPERS).
 
CURRENT CERTIFIED PEACE OFFICERS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A $3,500 SIGNING BONUS.
 
INDIVIDUAL HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUM IS 100% COVERED BY THE CITY.  FAMILY PLAN INSURANCE PREMIUMS ARE COVERED 91% BY THE CITY. ADDITIONAL BENEFITS INCLUDE: FITNESS CENTER ACCESS, PAID SICK TIME, PAID HOLIDAYS, COMP-TIME AVAILABILITY, VACATION, AND PERSONAL DAYS.

The City of Marengo is seeking ILEA certified officers to serve on an as needed basis. This position is an IPERS (Iowa Public Employee Retirement System) position and has an established wage of $26.00 an hour.

The City of Marengo is looking for individuals interested in law enforcement to serve as Reserve Officers.
